Sydney Buildings celebrates the Golden Jubilee

Queen Elizabeth II - 50 years accession

Balloons and flags decorated the railings

6 February 2002

"It all started when we had the clever idea to hold it on the upper pavement, because if you wanted to close the road it was very expensive. Everyone was asked to come with a bottle and 2 glasses, that way no one had to cancell the event in case of rain. What actually happened was that it did rain until, can you believe it, 5 minutes before 12 and the party was due to start at midday. So the weather gods were definitely on our side."

And the party gets going
